OP,in todays market, its worth what ever a buyer will to spend on it.
So, offer the least you'll think he'll take and don't be shy about it.
I'd be offering certainly sub 4k and closer to 3, if its is in good shape etc etc .

You could put it in for €3.5k and it wouldnt sell. theres no way of knowing at the moment. What you thinkin of buying?

Sounds a bit much for a 01. I have a 03, 5dr, 57k miles for sale at 5950 with warranty etc. A 01 without warranty should be 2000-2500 back from that.

Web prices range from €7000 to €2250 for 1.4 2001 focus
One would like to get a good price but if you want to sell it fast
near the lower end of the price scale is what you should be looking
    at..

OP, I'd try for a bit less than 4k. If you got it for that it wouldn't be a bad car for the money.

Some of these have higher mileage, but they're a year younger.

Make sure the one your a looking at buying has a service history and has been looked after. No point having low miles with no service history. A focus with 80k miles and a full service will be worth more to you.

Aye, try that. They'll either croke and tell you to F off, or else try bargain with you. Remember you are the buyer. If you're not happy with price etc, just walk away:D

Ye there is no way il be paying over the odds for it ...Should i discuss a price with here before i go & see it test the water or should i reserve judgement until the mechanic has gone over it?

I'd go and see it, if it's spotless you could end up paying a bit more than you expected for it. Don't be too cocky or arrogant about the price, break it gently lol. Reserve judgement, wait until you see the condition etc. etc. until you move on price. Condition reflects price. It's not worth 5k, but i think 3.2k could be a small bit undervalued, and the seller might not be willing to take that big of a hit. They are a good seller, and one thats clean with low mileage will be snapped up.
