Applying for a Driving Test - then deferring it?

    Greetings one and all!

What with all this talk of Driving Test waits increasing and possible Driving Test fee increases I'm getting kinda anxious to get a step on the ladder...

From reading other posts on here it would appear that should the fees increase, those who have already applied and paid their fee would be exempt from the increases - is this true?

Also I'm a bit fearful that by the time I do get to test standard that the waiting list will have double/tripled/quadrupled.. etc etc... and I'll be ages waiting.

So, I'm thinking that perhaps it wouldn't be such a bad idea to apply now and get my name on the list.

However, say I got called in like a months time and I didn't feel that I was to scratch yet, could I post-pone the date of my test?

I gather that when you get the date of your test you have 10/14 days in which you can cancel beforehand and not lose your fee paid?

So would it be possible to defer my test if needs be and not lose out on the fee paid?

    Thanks everyone!

Think I just found my answer! :o

"CANCELLING YOUR DRIVING TEST - 10 days notice of cancellation must be given, otherwise the fee is forfeit.
A limit of two cancellations applies to appointments issued on foot of this application. Any further cancellations will result in forfeiture of the fee."
