We have been asked for a thread to list On-Line and Bricks & Mortar stores that people on this forum have had positive experiences with and would recommend to others.
I'd like to keep it fairly clutter free so if you have used a shop or site that you would like to recommend, post up a name and link if you can, a brief post about what you like about them etc.
If someone else also likes the same retailer, thank the post using the post_thanks.gif button.
Limit your individual post to one shop/site so that it will be obvious to people what they are thanking. After a while it should be obvious what sites and stores are popular.

We also need to be careful about advertising so will be suspicious about people with only a couple of posts posting recommendations

I used Fore Golf in Naas for custom fitting. I don't change my clubs often and wanted to get my newest ones custom fitted to correct some technical issues. Found them very professional and a pleasure to deal with.

I've used the golf shop in Celbridge Driving range for the last couple of years, Derek mcGrath is a custom fitter there, and I've always found him to be really helpful and doesn't try to sell something that doesn't suit.

I've shopped in McGuirks in Howth since I started playing about ten years ago. Great customer service, match what they sell you to your ability, good value and up to date range of gear, can order stuff if you need it usually. I think they still do re-gripping and fix shafts too, havent got that done in a couple of years though.

They actually don't fix or regrips clubs, they are all done in Howth Golf Club on the other side of the hill.

John himself is still listed as club pro but spends most of the year in Portugal.

Having to have your clubs "fixed" a few times - strange that

onlinegolf.co.uk is an excellent shop. I havent used it before though

Personally not a lover of McGuirks, their staff in Blanch or Leopardstown have little knowledge and when I had a problem with a Powakaddy they tried to charge me €180.00 saying it was not covered under warranty after 10 months stating the control box had been opened.
I refused to pay and asked to speak to a manager who then agreed to "waive" the repair charge.
Prefer my own pro or online, onlinegolf.co.uk etc. There are some small independent shops that sell some good kit. The golf warehouse in cherry orchard are not bad.

I'm going to put in a plug for http://www.golfbidder.co.uk/

If you are looking for 2nd hand clubs and don't want to take risks with e-bay this place is great.
Huge selection, fast delivery, 12 month warranty.
It might not be the cheapest but the lack of hassle makes it worth it.

I have bought a good bit of golf gear from www.thegolfshoponline.co.uk and www.pargolfonline.co.uk recently - lot bigger range than say mcguirks, especially in galvin green gear

The Golfcreche in dundrum town centre would be my choice as a golf shop, I bought a set of Ping G10 irons (custom fit) and he was much more reasonable than my local shop (celbridge) or american golf, Gary is a superb teacher as well, he changed my putting in one lesson and never looked back.

He's in the cark park (red),

As for the others, McGuirks ...god i hate that place...about 135 sales people standing around chatting and dreaming of what could have been on the tour :D...not a helpful bunch at all, and god help you if you go to them with a problem, faulty equipment etc.

Agree with above, McGuirks is a joke. Went into the Blanch store yesterday, sales assistants were chatting in shouting form across the shop and for the sea of clubs available there was such little choice.

Bought clubs in Halpenny Golf yesterday in Airside in Swords, the store is half the size of McGuirks (or smaller) but it has a good selection, especially entry level and they were quite happy to do me a deal...goes a long way! I will endeavour to throw more custom their way.

Just also noticed a new shop at the foxhunter pub on the Lucan road, will check it out later and get back to you

    Howdy,
Can anyone tell me where to go for a set of clubs abd some gear around Naas? I don't like going to my local pro because I don't think the prices are the best.
Btw I noticed that new shop at the Foxhunter in Lucan, I won't be back that direction soon, but would like to know if it's any good.

Checked it out at the weekend, they have a good selection of everything. Prices seem to be reasonable too.

For a new set of clubs I would recommend The golf Creche in Dundrum Town Centre, Gary will give you a full work over while your their, just tell him what your budget is and he will sort you out, prices are as good as anyone else's if not cheaper.

If you dont want to travel that far then i would probally say american golf in tallaght

    Thanks Eire DD,
In the current climate, I'll wait to go to the new shop in the Foxhunter Lucan, support new endeavours and all that!

Go online and see. The days of shopping local for Golf Clubs are gone. There might be better customer service but I would much prefer to SAVE MONEY.
