Eircom Fixed Wireless Access

    Hey folks,

It looks like we could be getting an Eircom fixed wireless connection into our area - it's not on a stereotypical mast, but atop a very high traditional telephone pole.

Anyway, before this thing is fully commissioned I just wanted to gather as much info. as I can from anyone that knows what it is that "can" be delivered by Eircom, wirelessly (i.e. upload/download speeds, latency issues, equipment that might be installed [on the pole] etc.).

I'm not sure if this is listed as one of their normal wireless products - basically we are in a rural area (3km from local DSL enabled exchange, but all on carriers) and as a result we can only receive broadband wirelessly. As far as I know, eventhough we are quite close to the local DSL enabled exchange, the erected pole will be receiving a signal wirelessly from another transmitter in a completely different direction and then transmitting to us. So this might not be a "normal" Eircom wireless connection.

I could be wrong, but I thought at one stage Eircom mentioned cabling our current lines back to this transmitter, but as I said I could be totall wrong on that, as I presume we'll just have fixed wireless antennas to receive?

Anyway, anyone with info. I'd greatly appreciate it.

    Thanks,
    Rob

I think it is the standard Alvarion Breeze product...Same kit as IBB use, more or less @ 3.5Ghz frequency.
