I got caught speeding the other morning, stopped by a Garda. Fair cop guv. He said I would get a letter in the post. How long does it usually take for this letter to arrive?

I got caught on Friday doh. I have 4 from 3 years ago that were about to be taken off. Back to 2 now!
It took around two months for the notice to come back then. I rang the insurance company straight away to let them know though, better safe than sorry.
For a more accurate answer ring your local Garda station, it will be on their system so they should be able to give you some idea.

The one and only notice I received was in my post box less than a week after the speed was registered. This was November so it looks like they are on the ball.

Was that from a Garda stop or from a camera van?

That'd be a Gatso Van, nearly everyone I know that goes to the airport has their trip accompanied with a nice letter in the post.

As you went through this before then you will know that two letters come - one telling you that you were caught and (assuming you pay) then the other telling you when your points will be applied. There can be a considerable delay between the two that I would definitely not ring the insurance company until I received the second.
