"Rent" mobile/wireless broadband while moving home?

I may move apartment (Dublin) later in the year, and I guess it may take a few weeks to get wired broadband set up in the new place.

Are there any good options for "renting" wireless/mobile broadband internet access for a short period of time?

E.g. I could buy pay-as-you-go broadband from Meteor http://www.meteor.ie/bbtg/payg/pricing/ for €20 for 30 days (which is fine), plus €69 for the "device" (which won't be of much use to me after I get set up with wired broadband, so it's a bit of a waste).

Does any ISP allow you to rent the "device"?

Get it for a 30day trial and take it back on day 29 :)

Isn't the trial period only 7 days?

What phone do you have OP? You can just buy a 3 SIM or something similiar and use your phone as a modem?

    Nokia 6230i

What bandwidth would be possible with this option?

    236.8 kbps
if it's on the edge network

Wouldn't suggest doing it on Nokia 6230i really. Not a great option (too slow). It'll cause you more frustration than anything else.

OP I am in the same situation. I went to the three shop earlier and they told me the dongle is 79 (69 if bought online ) and they are locked. I asked if I can get justhe chip*, but they don't sell them without a modem. I am moving out in less than 3 weeks now ... trying to think of something, but I think .. unless someone wants to lend me theirs for a month, I will have to live offline for a few weeks :) Bummer!

That's a phone chip, not a broadband one

With that sim you can get an add on of 1gb for e10 a month or if you log in to the three website with your phone number and a password you set up you can set your handset as a modem and get the full add on of 10gb for e25 a month
