Independent Mechanic (Preferably Audi)

I have 06 A3 1.9TDi that needs its front brake discs & pads replaced on both sides. I have the original parts on order, went down the original route as the spurious discs currently installed have begun to warp.

Does anyone have any recommendations of a good independent mechanic/garage (that preferably deal with Audi) in the Kildare area? I’m based in Naas, so the closer to Naas the better!

    Cheers!

Do you know you can get original equipment parts without paying the stupid prices your main dealer charges ya?

Anytime I see a reply by yourself, I dont need to read the thread as I can be guaranteed you will be arguing with yourself about original equipment parts and not buying them at the main dealer. Its a value point certainly but its very tiresome at this stage.

Grand sure I'll say no more about it so. We'll all pay more than we have to for everything and everything will be grand.

Darragh, you do have a very valid point, but you have to remember there are people out there that no nothing about cars.

I once delivered a car to a female customer. I stressed it was diesel. The reply i got was "Diesel?? Isnt that what they use in vans?"

My point being, yes the parts are available elsewhere, and cheaper too, but the majority of people would either -

    - Order wrong parts
    - Or not even know where to order them.

    You are right tho.

All I'm trying to do is point out that you can get the equivilent quality OEM parts from independent sources for a fraction of what you would pay for the exact same part but for a rediculous price from a main dealer. Just because you did not buy brake pads from Audi, does not necessarily mean those parts as "spurious" as suggested.

Obviously the OP places an importance on value for money, or oherwise he would have had the pads fitted in Audi, so I'm just pointing out that he could have saved himself more money by getting an OEM brand brake pad like Ferodo, Mintex or Abec through an independent channel. Same product, different box.

Lads I will hold my hands in the air & admit to knowing sweet fa about motors mechanics & parts!

I'm having slight noise problems when breaking at the moment & had a mate have a look at it! He showed me the discs & explained that it was probably better to get original equipment parts when having them replaced! I took that as go to an Audi Dealer & order from them!

If I had known that I could of got original equipment parts from another source at a fraction of the cost I would of been on it! Would the likes of Otto (for example) stock these parts?

Sorry if these questions are coming across pure naive?
