I have a sealed electrical fan motor that's noisy but working perfectly. Anyone know of someone who might be able to split and repair it at less than the €300+ to replace it...

300! is it full of gold! ;) you can get an aftermarket bolt through one for about 100, not including delivery, sure you can get cheaper and closer: http://www.demon-tweeks.co.uk/products/ProductDetail.asp?cls=MSPORT&pcode=PCTCF22

    What car is it for?

............thats a cooling fan, I assume the OP is looking for a heater blower fan, usually more expensive and unlikely to be a standard fitting.

What car is it and where are you based ?

Usually anyone who can rewind motors or starters could do it, however in general these things only need a comm skim and a set of brushes.

errr... I'm in cork and it's in my '74 beetle:o (and by that, I mean it's actually in my '98 A6) and it's actually the aircon condenser cooling fan).

Be very ashamed for trying to dress that query up and ask over in MOTORS ;)

What's a heater anyway? Real-proper-old-school sports cars didn't have them. I suggest a suitably warm leather flying jacket and googles is required.

I'll have you know my old yoke is as cold as an Eskimo's icebox:P

Tried asking in Motors not so long ago. The crickets chirping only reminded me of the squeal from the fan so I got depressed and left. They don't like me over there, either. You guys will talk to me, right?:D

I used to use an '86 merc (back in 1998) and I got a lot of parts from a company in the North called Euro Car Parts. They were very cheap back then. 6 glow plugs plus carriage to my house came out at exactly 51% of the price here in Ireland from a company in Cork (no names ;)) The specialised in german parts

google them and you'll find them easily enough - it might be cheaper than 300 Euros

    Hope that helps
