There is a 5k series starting at the end of April in Galway. Unless you live near Galway though it might be difficult to attend as the races happen on Tuesday evenings. Details are available on here.

It's not April or 5k, but it's on the margins of both :)

The Dunboyne 4 mile (=6.4k) on 29th March:

Series entries sold out in 24 hours!
Some of the races might accept entries on the night. More details on each clubs website before their race.

Interested in doing a 5k myself. Any one know of one in or close to Munster? I've never done one before but based on my 10k time 39'13 could someone suggest a realistic 5k target? I was thinking sub 19?

According to McMillan calculator, which I have found accurate(http://www.mcmillanrunning.com/mcmillanrunningcalculator.htm) sub 19 should be well within range.
