Am I mad?

Considering changing my 07 Seat Ibiza 1.2 Comfort, less than 31,000 kms on clock, metallic paint, cruise control, full service record, one careful owner :D........ am I mad in current market???

It was my first new car ever and had been planning to change every 2yrs or so from there on in to keep some relative value in my car, till this happened - trust me to get caught with right wrong timing

Was pondering changing to Kia Rio 1.5 EX 5dr diesel, as want a little more voom as sometimes miss my old 1.4 when overtaking.

    Any thoughts welcome :D

Yes SAABMAN, was also looking into that but more expensive than the Rio so far from what i can see and only looking at a max budget of 5-6k which may even be pushing it with a Rio :(

You were mad when you bought that yoke, but you're absolutely insane to change it now.

Jesus Christ, I just read on, a Kia?

Take five hundred Euros outside right now and set fire to them. This will get you used to the depreciation per second you can expect if you buy a new Kia.

Thanks Zube, laughed at you're reading on bit :D:D:D. I knew I was going to get some refreshing honesty about how mental I am considering my current car and what I'm looking but I do want to get a good consensus on my mental health to be thinking about this. And then budget has to be considered and I do only need them to get me from A to B in, not to make me look cool :p . It's either something like I'm considering or running the Ibiza into the ground to be honest.

A Kia? No way, don't do it.

The Ibiza has hardly reached the "running into the ground" territory just yet! I'd advise keeping it another 12 months at least, the market is gone to pot right now.

    Nothing escapes depreciation now!

The old Golf/Corolla route is now very bumpy.

New diesel Golf 24k, 2 year old diesel Golf 12k :pac:

Laugh all you want at Kia, but some of them ( Ceed ) come with a 7 year manufacturers warranty. That will keep the used price up and give you very cheap motoring for 7 years.

My worry about doing that though is that I will have even less value to trade in and seriously doubt new prices will come down as much as I will lose in the Ibiza.

Into the ground??? It's only two years old!

I mean. I know you thought you were buying a piece of crap when you chose a SEAT, but even a SEAT will do you for 10 years, with proper maintenance.

Before you say anything about running costs vs. buying new YOU KNOW NOTHING!

    AND IT'S WRONG!

    OK?

    No, it [edited] won't.

In the current climate, when it's hard to sell a VW Golf, you'd have to be completely mad to imagine that a Korean [ahem] motor is worth cash money.

In two years, you'll be setting fire to it and hoping the insurance believe your story.

    But they won't.

    Here, I'll say it:

"You have to trade before your car's worth nothing, and as the years add up, the maintenance does too!

Better to trade in at two years before the big bills hit, and my local dealer is always so polite, so happy to see me..."

Nothing to do with the 10k you keep walking in and handing to him...

    Ahh why?

People are not as stupid as you think!

Golf's are hardly bentley's.People are waking up to that one, you know. Those people will see a good motor with potentially 5 years warranty :p

Used Kia Ceed's are selling well in the UK/here because of that warranty.

Get real, nothing is selling well here.

You're a panic, and no mistake! As if we never saw a paper!

OP, you are not mad, but if Tony here isn't kidding, he's bonkers. Loo-lah. Mad in the head. Daft. Crazy. Two bottles short of a sixpack.

Do not, under any circumstances, pay any cash money for a new Kia, ever, until all this "recession" stuff is so over that you have 50K sitting in the bank.

Then I'm sure you won't want a Kia in any case.
