How do you shape your goatee?

I've only been sporting a goatee since christmas but it is kind of reddish blonde so I have found the results of my attempts to shape it to be quite inconsistent. I guess it would be easier if I had a dark beard as the outline would appear more defined. Also, I am currently using a Mach 3 (while I await delivery of a DE razor) and I find it difficult to get clean edges with it. Anyway, I got the ruler out yesterday and started measuring and was able to cut a goatee template out of a plastic bottle. Hopefully this will lead to a better more consistent shape in future. Has anyone out there devised any ingenious goatee shaping mechanisms?

Yeah I saw one of those on youtube the other day. The only problem is that I like my goatee on the small side and those things, even at the smallest adjustment) seem pretty big whereas I have tailored my plastic bottle to the exact shape I want. I wonder if I should patent it

BTW Mark, what sort of razor are you using to get clean lines on the edges of your beard?

Right now I'm using the King of Shaves Azor, but mach 3 is very good. Just takes practice.

If you can't judge it by eye surely a goatee template would be an ideal solution. I'm an engineer and as such I find engineering solutions to fix problems. A goatee template is the obvious solution to an obvious problem. Can't see why this is a problem for some of you....

Nice work op, nothing wrong with finding a way of consistently shaving so your goatee is the way you want it. personally I did away with razors a few months ago and think it was the best decision I made yet, but I remember when I had a goatee and its damn difficult to get it right every time, each side. you are always better at shaving one side than the other i think, so why not use a template?

It's a fair point I suppose, I guess it's just easier for some than for the rest of us.

Just had my first DE shave - piece of cake to get the goatee perfect compared to a mach 3

You sound a bit like Adrian Mole there mate.

I find a light touch around the tache helps. *snigger*
