    Hi Guys

    Question for ya.

I’m in the middle of looking for a stove for our new build but unsure what size to get.
The house is 2300sqft with 4 zones and 15 Radiators.

The fire in question will have a back boiler and my top up heating will be oil along with a Heat recovery System.
Now we have spoken to a number of people that suggested getting a stove that caters for 6-8 radiators and using the zones as we see fit but im still unsure.

Have you guys any other opinions on this?

    J

It's very difficult to say x stove without a more detailed examination of the house. This is where a heating engineer while costing a few quid may be money well spent.

In any event. First issue is the room in which the stove is based. For example a 15KW may be giving 6 of that to the room which may be too much. Do you plan to install the stove in a large room? What is the heat requirement of that room? Outputs from stoves to room and radiators vary significantly depending on what model you go for, so if you know the room requirement that's a good starting point.

Once you have that figured out, how to link the system is the next problem and there are a few threads here on that if you search for them.

I'm not an engineer or a plumber or anything but I have a stove which heats the rads in my 3,500 sq ft house which is done into 3 zones.

The stove i got was the Hunter Herald 14 multi-fuel stove with a back boiler and it heats 19 double rads in my house with a good fire and i'm absolutely delighted with it. The stove itself looks good and so easy to work and i'm just delighted with the fact that it heats the downstairs of the house so easily and quickly.

I have to also add that the Hunter Herald 14 wasnt as expensive as some of the other makes (Stanley etc) and from what i've heard from neighbours who have a stanley they arent happy with the Stanley because it is too hard on fuel, but different houses/users, different outcome
