Delta and Continental

Apologies if this should be in the NY thread, but it doesnt refer to the city itself...feel free to move it if needs be.

We're flying Delta from Shannon to JFK (and then on to Boston) in April and back to Shannon from Newark with Continental in May.

I'm just wondering if anyone has flown either of these routes in the last few months and how the service has been, particularly with regard to in flight entertainment. Are their planes now fitted with seat back IFE or is it still drop down tvs?

I thought I saw someone on boards recently say that Continental had upgraded all the planes on their Irish routes but did a search there now and drew a blank.

    Any info appreciated, thanks :)

Go into your Delta intinerary and find exact aircraft type, then you can find out on www.seatguru.com or on the Delta site whether you have AVOD. I flew DUB to JFK last month and had individual seatback screens, but the Atlanta flight doesnt have those yet.

Thanks for that, Delta are not giving too much away about the flight at the moment, just saying that its a 757, so I'll just have to see on the day for that one.

However, I tried the same trick for Continental, and found that all their 757-200s have seatback screens, so thats 1 out of 2 anyway!

I flew this route with Continental last year and found them great to fly with. They had the seat back tv screens with about 20 movies and 20 tv shows plus lots of music. The movies were a pretty good selection and very recent. The food was only 'ok' pretty standard for airline food I suppose. Overall, I thought they were great, the seats were very comfy, I would definitely fly with them again (price permitting of course!)

Agreed. Got two meals each way. Wasn't stuffed after them, but was content. The movie / TV episode choice was decent enough. Would fly with them again. They gave out tea and water, with the option of some soft drinks (coke, fants, etc) every so often, which I thought was nice.

Was going from Dublin to New York. The plane went to Newark Liberty International Airport if that makes a difference, and we got a taxi from there to Manhatten.
