Don't read this thread if you're not into spoilers....

I don't really like spoilers myself but I've read a couple of interviews about upcoming events for Vol. 4.... If you've read similar, scroll down and read. Before you do, be warned, I'm talking about the series finale...

So, it's been stated by the writers that the series finale will involve a showdown between Peter and Sylar. They've also said that people "might not like how this one turns out".... What dya reckon? Will Peter die? Will Sylar? Who would you rather die?

Personally, I think if they're gonna have a fight, Peter's gonna need a couple more powers under his belt and just stealing Sylar's for the fight would be really lame.... If one of them has to die, I hope Sylar will be the one to go. I love Sylar but ever since the start, Peter has been the hero. He's been the one that's really special. I also think Sylar should have died at the end of Vol. 1 and it was a really cowardly move by the writers to keep him alive. They didn't reckon they could do any better so they pretended that he managed to evade Isaac's vision of his death so they wouldn't have to try to hard for a better villain. Fair enough, they were right. They never came up with a better villain but that could be partly due to the fact that they had Sylar to fall back on....

    Anyway, opinions?

Well Sylar is on to bigger and better things now, Im sure the publicity wagon starts for Star Trek soon so i doubt hes gonna have much time for Heroes.

I'll tell you this much. If Tim Kring signed a contract, written in the blood of his firstborn (or the blood of someone else's firstborn, for that matter) stating that every character from the first series would be killed off in the series finale....I would watch that episode.

Seriously. Setting up a fight to the death and killing off one of them? Not enough. Sylar has been one of the very few characters who was mostly pretty interesting for the show, but even he hasn't been without his clunkers. And Peter? Well, it's most obvious with him that there was never a long term plan, but that's true of all the first series characters - the drop in quality of writing for them after the end of the first series just shows that the writing staff went from having some reasonably good plan involving character arcs for them all to making stuff up on the fly (see what I did there?).

Frankly, if they want credibility back they have to kill them all off. Otherwise every time you see a character walking around you'll be reminded of all the complete nonsense that they've had happened to them and which is supposed to make sense somehow (perhaps through the mystical powers of bullsh*tronium, that most beloved element amongst writers of serialised fiction).

As it is, the writing staff has had the slash 'n' burn treatment, Zachary Quinto is clearly moving on to bigger and better things with the likes of the Star Trek movie, there've been rumours about other cast members wanting to bail out, Hayden Panetonne is looking to start a music career (though given most of the reasons for her popularity she may as well just do a Paris Hilton, she'd probably get more of an audience if she did so)....the writers (or, depending on how cutbacks go, the janitor who doubles as a staff writer every second thursday) may not have a choice about whether characters are written out.

^^Fair points. I also think the whole "you mightn't like how this turns out" kinda indicates the end for Sylar... They know everyone loves the character and they probably can't really keep hold of Zach Quinto much longer with his budding popularity... He's probably gonna move on quick enough....
