Probably asking a question I already know the answer to but does nayone know the story with the elctronic handbrakes and changing brake pads? I'm guessing something has to be done with the diagnostic computer to release and reset them? Or does it work like a normal handbrake and not hinder the changing of brake pads?

I'd imagine its going to be an issue seeing as the handbrake is engaged when the engine is switched off.

I know the ones fitted to vw/Audi require a diagnostic computer and can be highly dangerous to go messing with them without this. Ive heard a rumour that its possible by connecting a 12v supply in reverse to wind back piston but I wouldnt be trying this in my own car. I dont know anything about the system fitted to scenic

There is a manual release of the hand brake in the boot of the scenic close to the rear seats . It is used for release of brake when you breakdown to push car off the road . See if that gives you access

The handbrake can be released manually from the driver seat by a combination of pulling the handle and pressing the button with the red led. Warning beeps will end soon after.
