    hi there,
Does anyone have any info on when the first brake levers were used on bikes? I'm aware frederick william lancaster patented brakes in the 1890's but wondering about the first production use of brake levers?
I know its a bit of a mad one but any help appreciated.

Wikipedia has some info - there were lots of different systems common in the past.

On some of the earliest bikes you just used your feet to scoot along by pushing against the ground.
