I also applied, I know they pushed back the closing date for applications so thats probably slowed up the process.

I know of at least 6 or 7 ppl who have applied for this, none of them have heard anything back from ESB yet, but I may be wrong in that!

Applied myself, but haven't heard anything yet. I did notice that they have only just taken down the application form from their website in the last day or 2, so maybe we won't hear anything for another few days. I also got the impression from their email that they will only contact you if you're on the shortlist; you won't hear from them otherwise.

Yeah thats what I thought... give it another week or two anyway...

Just on the pay, anyone got a ballpark figure for starting off?

    I'm with ESBI.

I believe the number of graduates taken on this year will be a bit less then last year. I don't have any more information on this years graduate intake I'm afraid, I don't work in that area of the company.

Salary is competitive with the other graduate programs out there.
kearnsr: pay was terrible when I applied last year.

Kearnsr If I remember correctly you weren't straight out of college last year though were you? The graduate salary may not have looked attractive if you had a few years done already but it does improve with time as you build experience in the area as with other entry level programs.

I wasnt going for a graduate job so I assume the pay scale would be similar a few grades down

I actually graduated in 2006, but hadn't any engineering experience before the interview. Went wandering the world for a couple of years.

Yea I thought it was amazing money. Didn't get the job sadly.

Did you get more money in the end?

    Cheers Lads

    So Pauln

So without you getting the sack, what are they like to work for apart from salary? Is there much variety in the projects, travel, easy to progress through the ranks??

:D Without saying anything to get me sacked, they are unique to work for and you have to go in with a open mind and be ready to adapt, learn and work hard. As a graduate if you want to make a career in the energy sector they are a good place to start.

Variety is plentiful, shortest time on one project would average 6 months, longest 5 years and no two are ever identical.

The I in ESBI is important travel wise. Depending on the department of the company your in travel can be a big part of the job but varies from position to position.

Progression so far as I can tell is based on ability/expertise, education and years of service in no particular order. There is a defined engineering career ladder graduate-engineer-consultant-senior consultant and other branches off along the way into more managerial roles.

Just to resurrect this, has anyone heard from them yet?? I'm just wondering.

No still have nt heard anything back but I think they are a month behind the original schedule of shortlisting in February and interviewing in March by the fact the application deadline was put back a month.

I also applied back in January and still haven't heard anything back yet. I'm worried now that I'll have a load of interviews coming up to my exams. I think I've applied to around 10 or 11 companies for engineering jobs as well as a postgrad course. Only company that has got back to me so far was Shell to tell me they were not interested. Got that email about 2 days after I applied so I assume they just weren't hiring anyone in my field.

They got back to one of the lads in my class yesterday about an interview in the next few weeks.

Might not have got back to everyone on the shortlist yet though.
