    Hi folks,

just noticed a problem on a friends car tonight. It's a 04 reg 130 BHP A4 TDI Tiptronic.

Basically, when you are engaged in fully automatic mode, and the car is warmed up, when you hit the pedal to accelerate, and I don't mean "floor it" either, there is a vibriation as the car pulls off.

Not on the initial movement but once it is in motion, say approx. 5 mph. A vibration, shudder; difficult to describe exactly. But something definitely there. More evident from a hill start.

But here's the kicker..... Not noticeable in when tip mode is selected for some reason.

    Any ideas appreciated :o

Maybe change the ATF and clean the filter.

And don't listen to anyone who tells you that Audi transmission fluid should last the lifetime of the car.:)

    Cheers Anan & Mondeo,

I take it you folks are referring to Transmission fluid ( ATF ) ? And with regards to the filter, can you be more specific ?

Thanks again for the prompt replies :)

From memory, they have a strainer built into the transmission which needs to be taken out and cleaned when the fluid is being changed. The fluid is also specific to Audi automatic transmissions.

The gearbox fluid is in a large shallow tray with a filter, the unit is notionally "sealed for life" (ie Audi says this) except it is in fact servicable. Changing fluid and filter is a good idea if its not been done.

Really appreciate the input folks. Thanks alot. At the risk of taking this slightly off topic, I have a '02 1.8T Quattro (90K) which I look after pretty well. I change the oil every 4K and service it regularly. It being a maual shift, would you also reccomend gearbox oil change ? I've often toyed with the idea but then I'd forget about it. ( Not experiencing any issues by the way; just want to keep it that way ):)
