Watch recorded Sky+ shows with box plugged out?

Right. I record a couple of shows / films / whatever on my Sky+ box. That's upstairs. Sometimes I'd like to be able to bring it downstairs if people are over. I don't want the Sky+ functions etc or to watch telly .. all I want to be able to do is watch the recorded shows on the box.

The box seems to be setup so that I have to have one cable in. So I plugged the 1 cable downstairs from the regular Sky box into it and I could watch my recorded programs.

Is there any way to do what I'm trying to do without having to plug a cable in?

    Thanks

box needs at least one cable connected to dish for playback
