Thank God! I was worried you were just gonna do it the way some do and have the flashider directly against the grip mount, which looks "ridic"(as doc would say). Thats far better. A CQB Barrel is on my list after I re-assemble a standard one, and then do up a phantom kit.

Could always do what the 'Wing' do and use the short AUG barrels. 14" I think?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 519 ✭✭✭Crave

Well having the flash hider right at the grip mount will be possible, but will require the inner barrel being shortened. Keeping the silencer on will keep the original barrel length. Which should also help with accuracy.

Whats the opinions on the color choice?

Wait, so it's the same length as a regular AUG? Hardly CQB then is it? I'm not trying to nitpick but if it's no shorter than a regular one then I don't see the advantage apart from aesthetics?

Shortest I've seen them with is the 16'', think its so they can still use the 203 as its too long for the 14''.

Cav use them for vechile ops. Short is the way to go for CQB. You see the ARW with the short Styer for green role stuff but black you see MP5's and Sig 226's.

Near certain a picture I saw of two ARW lads sitting on a chopper in training for east timor deployment was with 14" barrerls and M203s. Could be wrong of course.

Well thats why i'm asking here, I have a choice to either cut the inner barrel and have it shortened, or i can keep the inner barrel length and use the silencer to have the astehic cqb look. Whats better? Because if I keep the length I could always convert it back to full length.

Get a spare outter barrel and shorten that, you can get an inner barrel to match and you'll be able to switch between lengths at the flick of a lever., :)

I have the short outer barrel on order but i have no idea how to figure out the new inner barrel length?

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 11,001 ✭✭✭✭Masada

I think its a standard M4 length, Not 100% sure though.,

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 519 ✭✭✭Crave

I think for now i will leave the inner barrel as it, so will just use the short outer barrel, and the silencer to cover the inner barrel. Should be secure enough right?

    Oi! That's my plan. Whadd'ya mean "I didn't trademark it"? :)

"there's four basic barrel patterns for the AUG: standard rifle barrel is 508 mm (~20 in) long. "Carbine" barrel is 407 mm (16 in) long, "Compact" or "Submachine gun" barrel is 350 mm (13.8 in) long, and the heavy / LMG (light machine gun) barrel is 621 mm (24.4 in) long."
    http://world.guns.ru

In the airsoft world, the standard inner barrel for the AUG is 6.04x509mm.

Crave, please let me know where you found the short barrel.

Search AUG on redwolf airsoft. It'll pop up!

I remember you posting that pic before, almost certain they were 16''. On the 14'' the grip is locked down and cannot be folded due to safety reasons because one could shoot their fingers off it not careful as they would be in front of the muzzle of a 14''.

This a pic with the 16'' barrel. I don't think they could fit a 203 on a 14'', thats not to say the Wing don't use 14''ers.

I worked that out before, let me see if I can remember...

The RS versions go from 508mm to 350mm (short), that's minus 158mm. So you're looking for an inner barrel of 350mm or thereabouts. There are replacement 350mm barrels available online. AEX used to sell them, possibly for the P90, but they were out of stock last time I looked.

I was intending to use the standard flash hider, if you're going to use a supressor I don't think that 1 mm will make much difference in this case (Dex? Richie?).

When my outer barrel arrives i'll let you know what its like. I'll post pics.

Yeah... LOL i think im ahead of both of ya., i did it months ago.,:p

the styre already is cqb, its only about 2cm longer than my mp5 with the stock extended. its bullpup for a reason

i'd just leave it std. lenght with the suppressor or get two barrels.

    :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 519 ✭✭✭Crave

I think i'll stick with keeping the inner barrel the same length as I will get the CQB look, but won't lose any performance.

Masada, do you do upgrades personally or in Eirsoft?

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 11,001 ✭✭✭✭Masada

Try getting in and out of jeeps with it. its impossible.

the difference wit the MP5 is you have the option of collapsing the stock and making it much smaller.
    :)

    EDIT:
Crave: Nope, not in my own time man, just do it for tony. :)

Where can I find pricing of upgrades?
