    Directive 2001/37/EC, Article 8:
Member States shall prohibit the placing on the market of tobacco for oral use, without prejudice to Article 151 of the Act of Accession of Austria, Finland and Sweden.

Transposed into silly Irish law as section 38(2) of the Public Health (Tobacco) Act 2002:
It shall be an offence for a person to manufacture, import, supply, sell or invite an offer to purchase an oral smokeless tobacco product.

    I'm positive :)

You'll just have to do with regular Cigarettes, Cigars, Snuff, Pipe Tobacco.. or a good Shag :p:D

A lot of my colleagues chew tobacco which they import from Sweden where its legal.

It's a disgusting habit but seemingly very common there.

Sweden and Norway. It's called 'snus'.

I never realised it was illegal here. That would explain why you see it just about everywhere in the US but not here. Even though it's a disgusting habit and can lead to mouth cancer, at least there isn't any second hand smoke. When the smoking ban came in, all the pubs could've enticed all the smokers back in with chewing tobacco.

Its not chewing tobacco. I take it myself, its called snus. There are loads of alternative flavors.. its like bubblegum for smokers i guess. Its a great way to get off of cigarettes too.

The main point being, its nto for chewing, you place it under your lip above your front teeth to the side. I get ready packed snus, it looks like a mini tea bag and it drips the taste into your mouth.

    Its soooo good.
