Heading to the states in a few weeks so just wondering would it be much cheaper to buy the ipod touch over there instead of here?

Does anybody know if i can buy the iphone over there cheaper without a contract?

    Check apple.com for prices.

Both devices will have the added bonus of not being volume capped like they are here in the EU.

Don't know if you can get the iPhone sans contract over there yet though maybe someone else can answer that

Apple Ireland Ipod touch 16gig = 279 euro
Apple UK Ipod touch 16gig = 214 pounds or 240 euro
Apple USA Ipod touch 16gig = 299 dollars or 237 euro

To be honest, you'll get the same deal on ipods up north. I picked up a 16 gig in Dixons Luton Airport last week for 189 pounds or 212 euro.

I think they add tax at 6% in the states to which means it is cheaper to buy the ipod in the north or UK. As for our over priced in the south.....

the tax in the states is a state tax, so it will vary from state to state.

I bought an iPod Touch in the states last September when the exchange rates were better. It wasn't possible to get an iPhone without a social security number at that time.
