I guy's , I'm asking this for a friend. He sent me this.

"I am thinking of doing a degree with the Open University and was wondering how SCQF (Scottish Credit and Qualification Framework) relates to the Universities in Ireland.

Basically if you do an OU course that is rated as a SCQF Level 10, what do this work out as if you apply to an Irish University? Cheers"

Any help would be great thanks.

I'm not sure where SCQF comes into it, but there would be Level 3 courses at the OU, which basically are honours degree level stuff.

The Irish National Qualification Framework has 10 levels ...

The Scottish Credit & Qualifications Framework has 12 levels ...

England, Wales and Northern Ireland have a double framework to some extent, with 9 levels on the NQF (Entry level, levels 1-8) mirrored from Level 4 upwards by the Framework for Higher Education Qualifications which has 5 levels denoted by C, I, H, M and D.

    Yes, it confuses everyone!

The answer to your friend's question is straightforward though ... SCQF 10 equates fairly exactly with Level 8 on the Irish NQF, i.e. Honours degree level.

    Thanks Randy. You're a superstar not a pornstar:p.

That's what he was looking for. I think he is going for his fourth level 10.

Scroll down and you'll see the OU alignment section and a link to a word document.
