Just back from a week snowboarding in Mayrhofen and mad to go again before the seasons out.

Snow was very good this year so I reckon I could go again in mid April over Easter. Where would be a good place to go then? By good I mean cheap :D

I reckon Tignes will be a good bet for excellent snow, not just on the glacier but for most of the resort. It's not bargain basement, but you can do it on the cheap. There's a youth hostel there which is good value. Val Thorens should be good too.

Do you have any idea how close the hostel is to the nearest ski lift?
Which airport is closest to the hostel or most convenient?

The coach you mention, how frequently does this run?

    thanks

There is a lift across the road, and you can usually ski back, but the run back is pretty boring and the snow isn't always great, and the chair lift is slow. I usually get the bus up to Tignes Le Lac (2100m) from the Hostel which is in Tignes Les Boisses (1850m). Frequent handy bus, can't remember exact timing, but the hostel would know to the minute.

There is definitely a coach service from outside Geneva airport to Tignes, or you can get much cheaper train from the airport to Bourg St Maurice, and a local bus up the valley to Tignes. Tignes is a world class resort, all the airports will have transfers.

I often fly to Paris, get an overnight or TGV train to Bourg then the bus.
