    Hour 11:
Jack searches for clues about the newest target by Juma, and learns that the White House is the target. Now he must protect President Taylor at all costs.

    Hour 12:
A high-impact terrorist threat develops. Jack's resolution to uncover conspirators inside the government has grave consequences. (From wikipedia).

Bill and Aaron should definitely have died in these two hours and probably Jack too.
Also when will those wussie liberals learn that torture is always the way to go :pac:.

    It was nuts!

Very enjoyable 2 hours, the siege on the Whitehouse was ridiculous (not a complaint mind!) and complete popcorn viewing.

I thought Bill was done for when he acted as a decoy with the tracker.

First episode was average, but the White House siege was very good. Absolute popcorn. :)

I did think it was a bit ridiculous that among the blueprints and maps for the White House (which Renée didn't know what they were), they had a pencil/charcoal drawing of the white house! Uh-huh... coz one of Juma's men is a terrific artist.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 150 ✭✭#Daniel

The first ep was the typical build up but I thought the second episode was great, very gripping.

As Necronomicon said I too also thought Bill was doomed, same for Aaron, but they live on.

Not keen in the way theyre portraying Jack as some sort of monster human being after he 1. saved palmer from being assassinated 2. stopped a nuclear bomb from going off 3. stopped a virus from infecting the world 4. stopped all nuclear power plants blowing up 5. discovered that the president was aiding terrorism 6. stop 3 nuclear bombs from going off. Cut the man some slack!

Does anyone find it odd that Tony is just sitting there outside the White House doing nothing? He just drove up and left Jack off like he was going to the Cinema or something, and is sat there outside the most heavily guarded building on earth in his banger.

Cant wait for next week, I wonder how they'll wriggle their ways out of this one...

They were action packed. I loved them. Such entertaining nonsense but nothing like it on tv.

This show does my fcuking head in but Ive seen every season so Im hooked til its finished now. As far as Im concerned episode 12 is the first episode of 24 Ive seen in 2 years that Id rank up there with the first 4 seasons.

Episode 12 was Proper 24. Popcorn viewing, completely ridiculous and over the top (the safeguards underneath the Whitehouse would be like breaking into the Federal Reserve) but at least it avoided all that political sh!te that has had me falling asleep (literally) during some episodes and the whole second half of Redemption.

Jack is back, and for his poor fans its not a minute too soon.

Loved the White House scenes. I was sure they were going to kill off poor auld Bill. In fact I think they should have. Would have a better impact than letting him live. At least Aaron got shot so that wasn't so bad. I love the way the Senator is being such a dick still. He better be the first hostage to get it. Lmao @ Tony outside The White House in his banger, which is essentially what he's doing but funny when you put it like that. Gonna give it a 9/10. Very solid 24.

I hope Jack Tasering that guy won't lead to a spate of wannabe Jack Bauers in the states :p

I found it odd that Jack had no problems disobeying a direct order from the Pres when she asked him to stop torturing that guy but suddenly had to obey orders when it meant handing over the president to terrorists.

Because Jack realises the president is an annoying ****. Get her killed then he has free reign to kick more ass. I hope she die's anyway during the rescue attempt. Cracker of an episode 10/10

Second episode was great with the "siege" on the White House - as ridiculous as it was, it was classic 24 all the way. I definitely hope the moron senator gets shot sometime soon... no matter what, it's always Jack's fault to him. All the marines must have accompanied that wuss Burnett to wherever he was been transferred... he better get killed too before the season is over.

So what the hell is the shipment that Hodges is waiting for? What could be so important that he would end up bribing so many people in the government and hand over El President to a bunch of nutters? Dun dun dun...

Okay after a re watch perhaps I was tooo quick should not have watched battlestar first.

Siege was cool and had The Rock feeling about the approach into the white house. Jon Voight finally and Ex csi guy assistant should add good twists

Thus apologies to all my 24 hopes have been re done

yeahh - that's what 24 is all about...
Jack should just clock the senator...

slapping the president was a nice touch

so will Tony come to the rescue or will Jack do it from the inside? Also wondering whether the VP or his advisor have a role to play in the conspiracy?

Noticed that about the drawing of the white house. One of the Sangalan recon guys must have had a lot of free time in order to put that together. Of no practical use whatsover, though.

Bill should have died. Hostages, my arse.

Now, a question: I've only seen the first hald of 24 redemption and know nothing about the Jon Voigh character. Should I go back and watch it, or is it unimportant?

Everything I don't like is either woke or fascist - possibly both - pick one.

    That was Jack-Tastic.

It's not essential. He's some sort of business man, and was present at the president's inauguration, so possibly a financial backer of hers? All you need to know is he was involved with Juma, supplied him guns I think, in exchange for some payout, which I'm guessing is uranium.

Biggest question for me, the Vice-Pres. What's his deal? Is he one of the evil-doers? He spoke with a southern accent on the video link with the FBI, but when he scolded his assistant, I thought he had lost his accent? I think he is working against Pres Taylor, but can't order the action that results in her death, as he wouldn't be able to ascend to the presidency (politically untenable).

    Hi evryone.

I just want to voice my opinion.

I think the senator meyer made some very good points. Even tho jack does get results with his techniques, does this mean he can do what he wants?? By torturing people isnt he as bad as the terrorists themselves? They whole way thru the episode I was hoping that Jack would be convicted of the crimes which he so feely commits without regard for human life OR even respect for his fellow humans.

Maybe then it would teach you people that what he is doin is WRONG. Its not there to be celebrated. In my opinion you people as as bad as Osama and his minions.

Nobody mentioned the very best part of the two eps:Renee ALL WET, mmm lovely. Only pity is she didn't strip off before she jumped in.
Finally an appearance for Papa Jolie, I really liked his line "Stress is the fertilizer of creativity".
The lockdown room seemed a bit of a repeat of the Matobo thing earlier on this season. How come Jack was able to open the door after he short-circuited the keypad before?
Also what the hell did the senator mean when he said to Jack "What have you done Bauer?" Did he mean he shouldn't have opened the door?
A mention for Kim as well, even though not by name, be great if she made a guest appearance.
    Edit:
I believe Kim is actually going to make an appearance during this season

Now I know you have to suspend disbelief somewhat when watching 24 but is anyone else finding this seasons storyline completely off the wall?

Soldiers from a small African nation invading the White House to take out the President.

    What?

The show is now spiraling out of control. The acting, dialogue and storylines are ridiculous. I used to love this show but this season is just taking the mick. I know it has been going down in the last few seasons but this one is shockingly bad.

If I have to sit through one more propaganda sh*t speech about how jacks methods gets results my head will explode. And yet I still watch it:o.
Not sure if this is the last season or not but it will be the last season I watch.
The show died after season 3

Great episodes. First one built up nicely to the second one. Loved the attack.

I'd say Juma will be dead in three or four episodes. Where can he go from here really, unless they do another last minute escape.

Not sure how they can keep the momentum though and what could the shipment possibly be that's it's more interesting that an attack on the president? Another shady government conspiracy would be a little boring/silly.

    What?

    As opposed to:
    1 Jack's Dad being a terrorist - Day 6
    2 The president being a terrorist - Day 5
3 Terrorist melting down power plants, crashing Airforce one and stealing the presidents key card all so they can fire a nuclear missile - Day 4
4 Jack kicking ass while addicted to heroin - Day 3
5 CTU getting bombed but still up and running and able to co-ordinate against a nuclear attack - Day 2
6 Nina helping Jack for the first half the season but then suddenly revealed as a terrorist - Day 1
I can pull the trigger 128 more times before the battery runs out

Jack has always been knocking heads. At least you know it will end badly for him and they're always telling us he's lost everything, is damaged etc. Yes its a little heavy handed sometimes but only Jack can look evil in the eye and do what needs to be done :pac:

If you want a critique on the state of America watch the Wire. 24 is popcorn TV. Let's play some darts.

Really good episodes, but utterly mental. Juma can't last much longer, but who's he gonna take with him? I was expecting Aaron or Bill to die (as were many others), or even Jack. I mean, Juma just shot the President's speech writer, what sort of threat was she?!

I have watched them all and I still stand by what I said.

The show is being used as a propaganda tool for the republicans. While there was evidence of this in previous seasons this season has gone all out. Taking pauses in the storyline every so often for a character to make a speech about how it may be necessary to do what they are doing for the good of the country. The show has never been a preachy as this before. I mean take the part where jack makes his little speech to some token fbi agent in the back of the jeep in the second or third episode:rolleyes: Its the death of a great show and a great character. Couldnt last for ever i guess but did it have to go out like this.

    Disappointing episodes.

Are we to believe that the lockdown facility in the white house has no means of external communication?

Are we to believe that NEITHER Aaron nor annoying daughter had a mobile phone to hand?

    Morse code my elbow.

For a series that is constantly flaunting the mobile as an impossibly flexible communications tool, the writers conveniently forget that everone has one.

for the first time ever: meh!

3 and four were a bit iffy until the end of four but 5 was a masterclass for me. Brilliant characters and story.

I really enjoyed those two episodes. A real return to form after the disappointment of season 6. I agree that a handful of soldiers infiltrating the White House like that is a bit much but I guess they at least tried to make it more believable by having to bluff to get SS of their backs. I'd like to think my SS would be able to take down at least one solider though!

We will have to agree to disagree. They got steadily bad after season 3. I really disliked season 5. I guess i just kept watching each season in the hope it would get back to what it was.

Initially yeah I did, when the show first came out it was far better scripted, plotted and characterised than anything else that was around at the time. Yes you had to suspend disbelief now and again but you could say the same about many good TV shows. That feels like a long time ago now.

You're right in so far as "Jack is still kicking ass" seems to be all that really matters to 24 fans these days....shows how low peoples expectations seem to be now.

Soldiers from a small African nation invading the White House to take out the President.

    What?

I was giving out in the early episodes that it was like "super happy friends save the world".

But now it's just gone daft. Aside from the disappearance of the marines, the general emptiness of the White House, the fact that you can shut down part of the security system without any alarms going off, the lack of any cameras within the white house showing agents being gunned down, and the fact that the main force of secret service agents seemed to just mill around outside waiting to be summoned inside in the event of trouble, the one thing that seemed most daft was FemBauer's boat trip. Why not just stay on shore and phone Larry, tell him they're on a (slow moving) boat on the Potomac? If she had, they would have found the boat in less than ten minutes, found the documents and alerted the White House before Juma even got through that wall.

What I really can't understand though, is why the hell I'm enjoying it so much. The daftness doesn't seem to matter as much as it did in the earlier episodes. Maybe it's because it's moving faster, though I thought the "assault" to recover the CIP chip looked rubbish, this was worse, but I enjoyed it more. Maybe I'm going soft, I dunno.

If you think back though, the scale of the thing has gone crazy. It's avery different show to what it started as. It's still enjoyable, but in a different way, it feels a lot less real.
The original 24 was very personal, just one guy trying to defend his family in an impossible situation, a relatively small set of characters and a lot of time spent on each.
Now we're up to war on a different continent, armed conflict in the White House, lots of characters introduced largely to be red herrings and killed off/written out a couple of episodes later - at this rate, day 10 is going to be Jack defending the solar system from intergalactic terrorists: "Chloe, send the location of that star destroyer to my space PDA".
