Tom Real with support from Doug Cooney+ Shane Murphy

After the massive success of Strip Steve’s [Boysnoize Records] Dublin debut in February, Ruckus is getting a little bit more boisterous in the brand new venue that is ThinkTank.

Our guest for March is London based ‘Tom Real’. Formerly known as a breaks’ legend he now has collaborated with The Rogue Element creating a new sound of progressive tech house blended with his breaks past.

    Tom Real Bio

Inspired by playing at major slots at some of the biggest festivals on the planet, namely Brazil’s week long New Year’s festival Universo Paralello, The KaZantip Festival, Boom and the festival to end all festivals The Burning Man in the Nevada Desert. Tom has moved away from the break beat past and is forging ahead with a new tech-fuelled house and progressive sound, as Tom describes it ‘music to be played outdoors and preferably on very loud sound systems’. Tom is continuing to produce tech funk and electro bangers with long time collaborator and friend The Rogue Element under their new ‘Disco Of Doom’ guise.
Studio-wise Tom has an arsenal of new music waiting in the wings featuring collaborations with like-minded friends and artists such as Fake Hero, Dylan Rhymes, Hamish and Gaudi as well as his own solo productions which he has spent the last two years refining. The first track to be completed from this new project titled ‘Boxed In’ (below) is drawing support from the likes of King Roc, Hernan Cattaneo, Moguai, James Monro, Dimitri Nakov, Dom Kane, Timo Garcia, Tim Davison, Dopamine and Tania Von Pear from an initial taster mail out which sets the pace for things to come.
As mentioned above Tom is also working with long-time friend and collaborator The Rogue Element under their ‘Disco Of Doom ‘guise, an electro project who’s first release ‘Disco Of Doom EP1’ featuring ‘The Click’ and ‘Loud & Clear’ on Passenger Records has won them support from DJs like AutoKratz, Annie Nightingale, Acid Jacks, Miles Dyson and DJ Hyper amongst a long list of others and with headline gigs not only in the UK but in Amsterdam and Helsinki, the duo are currently completing their second release expected to drop shortly.
So 2009 looks set to be another busy year for Tom Real as he continues to raise the profile of both projects with a busy studio schedule with plenty of collaborations and solo work planned for the first half of the year.
