    You might be jumping to conclusions there. There is a difference between a social problem of not being able to handle particular situations (everyone gets frightened at the prospect of a fight) and a medical problem of actual panic attacks.

    The best person to decide this is a doctor - start with your GP and if they find it necessary to recommend someone they might give you a referral.

    There are of course confidence building measures you could do - partake in a contact sport or even public speaking.

    And finally - remember to breathe. A fight or flight reaction is anaerobic and can shut down lots of your brain, so breathing can help you think more properly.

    Agree with Victor. But its sounds exactly like an Adrenaline Rush.

    Adrenaline (aka Epinephrine), is a hormone which your body will rapidly unleash on your Nervous System and Bloodstream in Fight/Flight situations where you need hightened awareness and reaction times, often observed as things slowing down. Afterward your body is left shaking, its a side effect. Adrenaline release is triggered when the body is under heightened stress - when you are being hit, see a loud flash or hear a sudden loud noise.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fight-or-flight_response

    * Acceleration of heart and lung action
    * Paling or flushing, or alternating between both
    * Inhibition of stomach and upper-intestinal action (digestion slows down or stops)
    * General effect on the sphincters of the body
    * Constriction of blood vessels in many parts of the body
    * Liberation of nutrients for muscular action
    * Dilation of blood vessels for muscles
    * Inhibition of Lacrimal gland (responsible for tear production) and salivation
    * Dilation of pupil
    * Relaxation of bladder
    * Evacuation of colon
    * Inhibition of erection
    * Auditory Exclusion (loss of hearing)
    * Tunnel Vision (loss of peripheral vision)
    * Acceleration of instantaneous reflexes

    Hi

    I am a 6ft bloke and i suffer with panic attacks. I understand your problem perfectly but also agree with the other respondants. As I am sure you know if you suffer with panic attacks you tend to feel everything is a panic attack. So this might be your situation as well

    Go see a doctor and if you get nowhere make an appointment to see a councillor. Be careful with the doctor. Sometimes they give you cartain drugs to get by. I am not a doctor but i suggest you try the counciling first. If you were like me panic attacks are like a dependence and you end up dependent on the drugs and feel more panicky when they are gone.

    Some doctors do not understand these very well so dont be surprised if you get a negative response but i hope this helps. There is various stats that show panic attacks have increased over the last few years. YOU ARE NOT ALONE! Give it time they do pass. Mine have all but passed, sometimes they reoccur slightly in the evening but not to seriously

    I dont know the nature of yours but I find it hard to forget what caused mine. Mine occur cause a general feeling of enormaty(Miss spell) of life so you see mine were hard to get over.

    Any how, hope the mods keep this thread open, I will check back in an see how you are getting on but remember

    No drugs if possible and YOU ARE NOT ALONE!

    i was threated the other day by a junkie because i wouldn,t give him a smoke , he was skinny and scrawny i told him to fook off or i,d kick the had of him ,,
    then he came back with a hammer a few minutes later ,,
    told me he,d fook it through my window screen ,
    but he just drove of then ...

    but when he was tormenting me for a smoke and i got out of the car and realised how small and skinny he was i just started to shake like i knew if i hit him i,d probably knock him out
    i was scared of what i could have done to him,

    i,m 6ft and weigh 80kilo,s.
    used to go to the gym but stopped ,
    maybe if i go back i,ll get more testosteron in my system and be able to
    calm a situation better the next time...

    btw i started the post and sorry for bad spelling.
