...no nitelinks during the week really, really, really ****ing sucks. Its basically an 11:30pm curview. Its my friends birthday this Thursday and I'll have to leave just as people are getting into town (theres a house party first and then everyones heading in for about 11) as I cant afford the 25 euro taxi home.

    Really frustrating.

    100% agree with you.

This is where the notion of the City`s Bus Service being just that ...a SERVICE...not totally dependent on profitability to define it`s parameters comes into play.

There is plenty of scope for Dublin Bus to get stuck into providing a comprehensive regular Night Bus service on trunk routes as ameans of stimulating NEW business.......OOps..sorry against the present Government spirit it seems !!

Men, it has been well said, think in herds; it will be seen that they go mad in herds, while they only recover their senses slowly, and one by one.

I 100% agree with you too!

The notion that there should be 19,000 taxis in the city yet no buses at all defies all logic.

Unless of course you are a government Minister with an agenda averse to the environment, the general public, and anything that is decent and good, but rather the vested interests of maintaining a bloated and over capacity motor industry, and tax revenues at all costs...

Even if had a minimal service on Wed & Thur (which are very busy nights in their own right) with just one bus at 2:00...at least we wouldnt be forced to get taxis.

I think I'll write an article about it for our student website. Wonder what the best way of gathering up information on night time public transport in other European capital cities would be...

I would certainly think that there is a case for the longer routes operating where the costs of taxis becomes prohibitive.

Nicely put. I think the first step is the do something about the atrocious number of taxis hoarding the streets.
