    Howdy
So I'm sure a few of you have heard of this dude ?

I can't even remember how I came across it (Im hoping it wasn't here or else I'll look a bit silly..) but christ, his diaries about a chaotic major label recording project are utterly compelling! Yer man has a hilarious turn of phrase and the goings on are priceless, he's got a book out which covers what the online diaries dont cover...dying to read more now.

But anyways, anyone know who the band was? That's assuming its fact-based, which Mixerman has repeatedly defended.

    cheers

I'd never heard of him but starting with a whois on the domain eventually found it belongs to a guy called Jeff Mutschler. He crops up under the same address at http://www.mmediaaudio.com and his myspace thing: www.myspace.com/mmediaaudio

nice one...yeah defo on the right track, there's a link for 'The Womb' on the m media site which takes u to the man himself so we're warm!

If you read the diaries you'll understand why I'm dying to know who this band is...enthralling stuff...for musician and producer alike I'd say (I'm the former...loosely albeit)

a post from Mixerman to a guy on this forum who did a bit of research like yourself...not warm after all...oh well

"Wow, you're a serious internet sleuth. Who would have known that you could get all that information about a website? Oh wait, maybe I knew that when I went and sent copyright infringement notices to all the websites that were carrying my diaries without my permission.

Jeff owns MMedia, which does all my website design and maintenance. He built my Mixerman.net page, and he built The Womb Forums using the Vbulletin software. He's also built hundreds of other websites from corporate (Dell) to arty or edgy (like mine). The guy is great, so if you want a great looking website, I highly recommend him. Make sure to tell him Mixerman sent you.

He's also a musician and has been in several Austin bands.

    Nice try though.

    Enjoy,

    Mixerman"

I suppose you could try to find out the ISBN number for the book and maybe trace him via an inquisitive librarian.

then again, if you consider the statement: 'In the middle of 2002 he was contracted to engineer on a recording session for a famous producer who would be recording a new band that had been “won” in a record company bidding war'

and turn it around a little so that it mentions 'don't fear the reaper' then we've found the producer anyway :p

sorry I sent you in the wrong direction

ah the more I read about it the more I think that it may be more fiction than fact...many of the events described may have happened on recording sessions but the diaries might be a fictional amalgamation of stuff he has experienced and heard of plus a couple of urban myths thrown in...you never know though. Still good reading, recommended for all engineers anyway

Just started reading this during the week. Funny stuff. I'd be inclined to think a lot of it is fictional though, it seems too consistently anecdotal to have all happened in the one session. Probably just based on the muppetry he has witnessed throughout his career. Still a great read all the same.
