Anyone know what has happened to the proposed new bus station? Just back in Claremorris from down there......bus dropped off and picked up at the usual scrum pavement outside the train station...

    Thanks and regards

Did you get a Bus Éireann? As far as I know the new bus station is just for the independent buses (Citylink, etc) to ease congestion. It is up around the corner from the back of the old bus station. Quite nice too.

It's a recession so I'd imagine there won't be much movement on the Ceannt project for the forseeable future.

Maybe you are thinking of the new Citylink station? That's open down beside the tourist office.

Didn't know there were plans for another one.

Yeah, that's what I meant, the one beside tourist office..but it isn't just for Citylink, I believe.

Its basically for all buses which arent Bus Eireann. Great place, but it should be co-located with the Bus Eireann station, or at least in adjoining buildings with a door between them.

The unions would go ballistic, but this is how its done elsewhere in Europe, so theres no logical reason why it couldnt have been done here.

Cheers all - got a Bus Eireann down and back which probably explains all.....

Yep, it's only for City Link and Go-Bus (formerly Nestor Bus). It looks nice but seemingly tickets can only be purchased from the Tourist Office across the road?

Citylink tickets can be purchased from the drivers anyway, dunno about the other services.

Never see "Go-Bus" there, then to see them parked on the street near the credit union for some reason.

There was this big plan for a super train/bus/shopping/flats mixed public/private development floating around about 18 months ago; obviously disappeared with the housing market.

You can also book online for both Go Bus and City Link.

The new Coach Station is really nice. I use those buses fairly regularly to get to Dublin or Shannon Airports. The new warm station beats standing outside in the cold + rain at the old bus stop that these companies used to use.

yep its citylink and go bus....

very handy and it is also very nice to not be waiting in the freezing cold and rain! and yeah you can get tickets from the tourist office and the drivers!

Ya that's where their main office is, but you can't get the bus from there. It's a dangerious place for the busses to be parking though!
