I hope TV3 is not gone for good, they are just broadcasting a DTT test chart at the moment.

Same here - getting the DTT test card. I rarely watch TV3 myself, but it's a pity if they can't keep it working, as it will make people nervous about migrating to Free-to-air. They will probably make an excuse that DTT is only a trial, not guaranteed. RTE seem to be able to keep DTT working, so I can't see why TV3 can't - just using RTE network in any case. I couldn't be bothered transferring back to analogue just for TV3, so it's their loss ultimately.

I suggest everyone sends them an email to info@tv3.ie to inform them about the problem. It will let them know how many people are now receiving them on Free-to-air DTT.

Picture of what is on TV3 at the moment. Better than most of the "normal" programming????? :D.

It is only a trial. No formal launch has been made.

It's a nuisance for me as my analogue picture is unwatchable on TV3. I hope there's no good films on while DTT is off.

Could it be because TV3 are uploading digital threetext? Is it just at 3 Rock? I emailed them but I mentioned Claremont Carn not 3Rock doh!

RTE probably looking for payment from TV3 for DTT carriage :)
And the radio services on the public service DTT MUX have been just the 4 RTE stations. No sign of Today FM, Newstalk, or 4FM.

Will they ever broadcast the RTÉ DAB channels on DTT.

I have to agree with Antenna could be down to transmission contracts, TV3 will have to pay for carriage and transmission costs on the PSB mux.
From the Broadcasting (Amendment) Act 2007 which provides for TV3's carriage on the PSB mux and payment for the service (there is no requirement to carry the commercial radio channels on this mux in the Act)
3.—(5) The Minister shall, at the request of the Commission and after consultation with the Authority require the Authority to make provision in a multiplex established, maintained and operated by the Authority under section 16(1) of the Act of 1960 for the broadcasting by digital means of the television programme service provided under the television programme service contract by the television programme service contractor.
    (6) If the Minister makes a requirement of the Authority under subsection (5), the television programme service contractor shall make to the Authority such periodic or other payments in respect of any service provided by the Authority in meeting that requirement as the Minister, after consultation with the Commission for Communications Regulation, the Authority and the television programme service contractor, may direct.

A similar situation exists with Boxer according to an article in the Irish Independent last week
Last November, their Boxer DTT consortium was given a key contract from RTE's networks division, which is responsible for building the infrastructure for Boxer as well as RTE's own public service DTT.

Sources close to the national broadcaster confirm that the contract has yet to be returned, and RTE's patience seems to be fast evaporating.

"We've spent €40m on equipment already," said one source in RTE.

"We're not ordering the next piece of equipment until we get that contract back."

RTÉNL have published a proposed schedule of tariffs for DTT services on their website

Interestingly RTE NL seem to be testing all 4 muxes for Three Rock on 54 58 61 64 with replication of the PSBs.

Seems to be reduced power on the 3 other muxes. I have 90% signal Q&S on 54, 80 on 58, and 30% on the last two.

There are also a few blank carriers in between broadcasting nothing.
