Why oh why did they decide to have this first test in Limerick !, I'll have to give that one a miss , but I'll not miss the second at Croker.
Anybody know when the new jersey will be on sale ?

Well considering its the third biggest stadium in the country it makes a hell of a lot more sense than Pearse stadium in Galway and lets face it, it's chronically underused and will give people in Limerick, Clare, Tipp etc the opportunity to see players like Sean Cavanagh in the flesh.

Seeing as Gaelic games in Limerick city has gone to the dogs recently due to the success of Munster rugby it might do some good to promote some sort of GAA event in the city

Think Limerick is getting a lot of flak because casement Park was over looked.
Limerick Got it so move on.Im sure Casement will it in 2011.

Agree with this and no matter where the game was on you simply cannot please everybody. Now it's up to the people of the Mid-West to ensure a big crowd at this game to fully justify the decision.

If ever there was an argument for the much more sensible (imo at least) 3 game series this is it...

Have one game in the south west, one in Ulster and the final one (hopefully the tie-breaker) in Croke Park...

The games used to be best of 3 iirc. The reason it was changed was because they were left with the situation where one country is 2-0 going into the final test (which happens nearly all the time), making the last match practically worthless.

Agree fully. Anyway Páirc na nGael is a much better stadium, without stereotyping our lovely northern cousins, I don't think that there'd be the same moaning from Munster if the match went to Belfast!

The system they have now makes the first game practically worthless.

At least this way we'd occasionally get a proper series.

agree there lads 3 games series would be a lot better plus a lot more players from other countys would get a chance to play for Ireland

    Well not exactly.

In game 1 of the current series if you build up a 20+ lead that's pretty significant leading into the 2nd game.

But under the previous structure, only wins came into the equation, there was nothing regards the size of victory. So if a country was 2-0 up going into the final game, it didn't matter whether a team won by 50 points, it would have no bearing on the overall series.

I have to agree here with keane'o ,. I have never been to a match of any kind played in limerick or Galway .coming from the Black North i though anyof the ulster counties would have been an out-standing idea ..and not necessarily casement park . I've went to many of the test matches for comp. rules and there was nothing wrong with them all being played in croke park . its a pity we've to wait between tests for it to come back into the Northern hemisphere(bi-annually). why don't they play it yearly ?
My young lads (4) think its a brilliant game and look forward to it , alas we can't afford to travel to Oz to see the game , suppose Limerick is better than perth !

To keep the competitive nature of the series 2 games seems about right. There's no point in having a third game if it has become meaningless from a series winning perspective. Also you could devalue the meaning of representing your country by handing out starting places to second rate players if the event of the third game being a meaningless encounter. Also the Aussies would have to bring a bigger squad due to the almost inevitable injuries that will occur during this series which would increase the overall costs.
