So.. i finally convinced my girlfriend to start on cycling with me.. (happy days!!) and even more with a road bike!

She is 1.68m with 72 inseam so the theory says that she must be around 48 size (??)

We are willing to give something around the 500euro mark since we need to spend around 200more for the rest of the equipment. I did a tour around the usual online suspects but i didn't see anything interesting.

    Any suggestions?

Any help will be greatly appreciated once more!

Had the exact same situation myself with my own gf who's about the same height. A 48 should be about right - I got my gf a 2nd hand Specialized Allez in that size and most that are this small would have narrow bars and a (probably) a womens saddle as standard.

THIS is newer than what I picked up but assuming there's no rush on it would bring you in close to budget

Just make sure that you swap out any parts that are better than yours with your old ones before you pass it on to her........... :D

What do you think about this Giant SCR 1?

Its on XS so it might fit :)

Edit: Hm... i found this SCR1 that is for women only.. with totally different geometry.. Does it make so much difference?

Giants have sloping frames AFAIK ... so a 46.5cm would be roughly a 50.5cm on a bike with a horixontal top tube ... this might mean that the woman specific bike might not be available in her size. On the SCR1, there are loads of shops in Dublin which stock them ... it wouldn't hurt to try it on for size.

No - This is a very good bike. Specialized are great bikes. I have the Ruby Pro myself and it fits great, never a problem.
The dolce is a very pretty bike, I saw one in Larragh, on the ladies of the WW triathlon club was riding it.

Yeah I saw a girl buying one of those in cycleways recently. Looked really nice.

My brother has a very nice Ribble that he's thinking of selling for 500-600 euro. It's a sloping geometry size 46 so if you want to check the Ribble site you'll get the full frame dimensions. It has Mavic Aksium wheels and Campag Veloce groupset. Let me know if you want more info.

Cycleways need more than a month to get a Dolce  Any other place that we can get it? I will not buy it from cycleological even if it has it in stock!

I got my specialized from Hargroves cycles and generally was very pleased with them. I see they carry the Dolce and will do free shipping as well.

Dont knock the Dolce just yet!
I've got one (entry level model), three years old now. Its a super little bike! Its my everyday workhorse and its a pleasure to cycle. I got mine from the U.K. through DeVeres cycles http://www.devercycles.co.uk/. Look for the last seasons model, some of the shops sell them cheaper than the latest model.
If your gf wants to have a test cycle bring her into cycleways, for a test cycle to see if she is comfortable and happy with a Dolce.
The Giant womens model is available to order in Cyclelogical, but they didnt even have it on display when I went in to look at it.
    Hope that helps !

hahahaha ok you are quite right.. But! I am saying it here (so it will stay for the next 160years) that if she will still be cycling by the end of the summer i ll get her a full carbon one!

Tiny, i am not getting from cyclelogical, their attitude have lost me from customer for even a degreaser. Good news is that cycleways called me and they will have it possibly by the end of the week :)

My gf is also looking for a roadbike. From checking their site Wheekworx seem to have the best selection of womens road bikes. Cycleways had only the dolce. I'll pop into Wheelworx later.
