Work on your technique, make sure you're not carrying weight, wear proper runners.

What do you class as "carrying weight" tunney?

Depends on the person. I know for me there is a particular weight (about 16%BF I suppose) and over that I don't enjoy running. Too many aches and pains.

would a gait analysis help here for both technique and selecting correct runners ?

thanks for tips so far tunney and Buck65

Personally I swear by footdisc (think www.irishfit.com stock them) ortho inserts, but I saw a physio and had full gait analysis before I started using them. These made huge improvments when used with improved form 18 months on I still do a relatively slow session once a week purely to maintain/improve form.

Try Travis Mc Donagh for the TOG he owns the advanced chiropractors in Ennis Co Clare.
