Just wondering how old is too old to go back to playing rugby. I am 36 and would be looking to play in the 2nd row. I was never especially good.

Are there teams made up of crap old players who are out for a laugh and a few drinks?

I wouldn't recommend it. If it's four years or more since you played, and your standard is not high...learn how to talk a great game instead, while propping up the bar....

A lot of clubs have vet teams (35+) with players up to, and often over, 50 years old. Could be a good way to ease yourself into it. If you find your fitness and standard are higher than that level, then look at clubs with a few junior teams.

    Where are you based?

I'm in bray(not OP by the way), always thought i'd like to go out to greystones one of the lower teams.. I've got the build for it but never got to play (wrong school and such). Late 20's now.. would they be receptive to taking a complete novice at that age and teaching the basics, how to tackle properly etc.

I'd feel like a knob rockin up with no clue except having watched on telly all the years.

Seapoint is very close to Bray, and a good club. Will send you a PM tomorrow.

Go for it. If you have the build then that can make a lot of difference to an inexperienced player. Find your right position and away you go, no reason why you couldn't be playing J1-J2 rugby in a a few years.
