Re-Installation: Tiger/MBP

Right so, messed up Tiger on one of my Macbook Pro's and want to re-install it now. I have two of them, both still with original disks etc, but I've come up against a brick wall so to speak.

Using either of the disk combo's, I get the "This software cannot be used on this computer" error, as described here. Thing is, these are the original disks that came with the machine, so I am kinda stumped.

Any advice before resorting to getting a retail version of 10.5 or something?

Do the disks have Macbook Pro written on them? Are they the same discs you used on these machines first day?

They do and they are. They were sealed in the boxes when I received the machines. First time I have had to use them though.

Bizarre, coming to this very late, did you get those original disks to work or did you have to go to full retail version?

Nope, they simply refuse. They have to be the wrong version, though I find it strange that they are the wrong versions in both my MBP's.

I Just stuck Ubuntu on the crashed one, at least it's useful now. Will pick-up a retail copy at some point.

Sorry, didn't see your last reply until now.

Can you post exactly what is written on the discs and exactly what model machine you have. If Apple supplied the incorrect discs then it is up to them to replace them, not for you to buy a retail copy. I would be very surprised if they supplied the wrong discs with two machines.

I wasn't sure if you had used the discs before in the machine (in the initial setup), hence my earlier question.
