Hi guys, I have been thinking of buying a support gun for the last couple of months. Looking at the A&K m249 Para for 299 euro, just wondering if any of you have one, and if so what is it like, ie build, reliability, ROF etc, etc. Also if you know of any other support guns for around the 300 euro mark that you consider better post here.

By the way before anyone says anything about the weight, I already know, I'm not too concerned about that. Hopefully I wont be doing much running with it, more interested in laying in the dirt pinning down you GI Joe's. No offence, but you know what I mean.

Probably not very helpful but you could buy a m4 for about 150 quid and attach a 3000 round drum mag (30 euro) and its a hell of alot lighter and pretty cool :P (also u save a good deal of money) anyway gl with whatever you choose

PERSECUTE!!! PERSECUTE!!! Box mags do not belong on assault rifles!!!!

Anyway, the M249 from A&K is widely regarded as a beast of a gun, top notch quality in the externals, internally as hard as nails. Chances are you'll have to get a replacement CA hop unit though because the stock one sucks the big one.

There are a ton of reviews and discussions about this beastie in the airsoft reviews section at the top of the main forum.

Definitely. Every single stock A&K 249 I've seen had a hop problems. If you're getting going to buy one then budget in the new hop from the start and order it at the same time.

Here here! Well said that man!:pac::pac::pac:

Brabazone the A&K M249 is a beast let down only by the fact that the nub in the hop that pushes on the bucking is about 2mm too short. This problem is easily fixed by chopping off a bit of a Biro (the top of the ink tubes in Bic Biros are perfect) and replacing the stock nub with it. Just make it about 2-3mm longer than the stock one.

I've the Mk.2 so I can't talk from personal experience about the Para stock but a friend of mine has the para and says the retractable stock rock solid.

The gear box is a total beast, a massive lump of metal built to talk a lot of full auto. They have metal bearings and mine was well shimmed out of the box. Mine had compression issues so I replaced the cylinder head, piston head and piston and it works perfectly.

Mine shoots at 315-320fps (with 0.20 BBs) and is very VERY stable power wise, use 0.25 BBs and it has amazing range and flat trajectory.

All in all they are fantastic guns and possibly the best value of any AEG out there. Just don't forget a good sling! :pac:

Thanks for all your opinions, have decided to go ahead and buy one.

So my next question is where did you get yours and what did you pay, Got my M14 ebr of RSOV and even though the service was good I would prefer to by local this time.

Eirsoft is advertising the para for 299 euro >snip< but its really the para I'm interested in, just because of the mobility of it with the collapsible stock.

Do you know of anywhere else I could get a good deal on one.

If you plan to move around at all get the para. The MK2 is more for fixed position fire.
