I have a 2005 bmw x3 and the water-pump has gone. This is the second time this has happened and I have been informed by the dealer in enniscorthy that it is not covered under warranty. The last water-pump was put in June 2007. Are the parts not under there own warranty? If you buy a new car and it has a 2 year warranty and a whole load of parts go after 20 months are these new parts that were put in only covered for 4 months? well that's what they are telling me. Any suggestions

I would have thought that the parts would be covered under their own warranty.

I would think that its the car that's under warranty from the garage, not the parts.

I would go to BMW Ireland on this, an 'ultimate driving machine' should not eat two waterpumps in 4 years, actually no cat should.

Thanks guys. Just on to BMW Ireland and they informed me that parts are not under warranty (joke in my eyes as obiously there is a fault with there water-pumps) Am I right in thinking that the water-pump going would have nothing to do with the way the car has been driven?

2 water pumps in 4 years is insane, and you are right, driving style has nothing to do with it. Does the car have a full BMW service history? If so I would not give up and go back to the dealer and ask for a goodwill gesture of some sort.
