All, not sure if this has been dealt with before, but I am a member of a recently started society and we are considering a week's golf holiday in October. Has anyone here any experience in organising something like this?

Any help you can afford would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

four of us went over a 2weeks ago to portugal played 4games in 4 days in http://www.pestanagolf.com/ we played gramcho, silves and vale da pinto twice. it was cheap enough around 35euro a round, courses were challenging and in good condition.
we fly out with ryanair to faro on thursday and back with aerlingus on the monday morning think the flights were around 90euro for the two of them.

Myself and a few mates have been going for the last 9 years (the last 4 to Portugal).

First things first get the flights booked, that way lads are committed. The golf and accomodation is easy to organise after that. Good booking websites include www.tee-times.info and www.teetimesanywhere.com.

If you fly to Lisbon (which you probably won't) I can certainly talk about the courses in that neck of the woods. One of my pals is a member of Praia del Rey, have played it loads. Played the new one, Bom Sucesso last week, great course.

    Hi

Have managed groups of 40 for the past few years to Spain, Potrugal, Tenerife, Tuniisia

Get an idea of costs 1st, that would include, Golf, Flights, Transport and any prize funds....

Post that 1st to get a feel for the trip, ask people for deposit of 350 to books flights - that way they ensure they travel.

Open up an account in Credit Union to An Post to manage the cash. Give out receipts and recolcile each week. It can and will get messy.

The orgainse Golf and Accomodation and transport.

The narrower a man’s mind, the broader his statements.

Vilamoura in Portugal is a good spot - 30 mins to faro airport and it has 5 good courses. Faro is well served by cheap flights.

Need to factor in those travel golf bags ( I had to buy one, €30 in Lidl!!!!!)and extra cost of flying with golf bags (€50 ) as far as i remember into the cost.
