Can anyone recommend some courses on photography. In particular portrait, landscape etc.. I have been messing around with photography now for year but would like some basic grounding in the area. Suggestions very welcome.

Rather than a string of courses you may consider joining a local Camera Club. This will allow you to interact with other Photographers & learn from them. You will also get to attend talks from people who are very experienced & experts in their particular fields.

    Where are you located?

    Hi vinvon.

I'm going to recommend the Digital Intermediate Photography course in the Institute of Art, Design and Technology in Dun Laoghaire. It's a night course that spans 10 weeks from 7-9.30 every Tuesday or Wednesday. I was doing a degree at the time too so managing a job and this course wouldn't be too trying.

The lecturer is great, friendly and really knows her stuff. She'll run through the ins and outs of everything you want to know! It was really enjoyable and reasonably priced too.

I'm embarking on another one actually from the so called "The Institute of Photography" on creative photography in April. This one cost far more than the last so I really hope it's a good 'un.

    Good Luck =)

    Vinvon,

I have done the Creative Approaches to Better Photography in the Gallery of Photography which is good course to bring more creativity into your work.
I have also done ExploreLight.com weekend workshops which are excellent and has probably been the most beneficial to me as made me look at light differently.
However, as CabanSail said, camera clubs are great places to learn and I consistently learn stuff at the camera club I help to run.
Courses are great for learning a lot of stuff quickly but there is no feedback once the course is over.
You won't learn as fast as a course in a camera club but you'll learn stuff consistently and there is always ongoing feedback.

May I ask for links? it is always interesting to find new challenges!
And abou the links, I am lazy, of course, but it looks that my googling skills worsened recently. Thank you.
