according to the ad, this "beauty" actually was road legal at some stage, apparantly it's a "labour of love" of a panelbeater *cough*

Anyway ...what bits have gone into it? (PS: I don't know all of it either)

Are those Mk1b Capri rear lights?

Nope, not a Skoda, that VW badge is genuine, that much I know

Although some parts look like they might have come from a Skoda

All I know for sure is that this is the base:

    pic6.jpg

    VW 412

The rest smacks a lot of Opel Manta and a little of Skoda something or other ...in my opinion, anyway

I recognise the wheels, head lamps and maybe a Type4 motor as all VW but not the body...

well if you took the "body kit" bits off and imoprived the paint scheme, it would nt look so bad as it does now....

That's a rare car in any style. They sold very few of them and those that did sell saw their second hand value plummet to nothing, so very few got the attention they needed and they were just let to rot.

The 411 / 412 series nearly killed VW. Too expensive with antiquated technology. Only for buying NSU/Audi and pilfering their FWD/watercooled technology they wouldn't have made it past the 70's.
