Single Slot ATI 4850

I have been searching the net for a single slot ATI 4850 graphics card which also has a single slot fan. I have ordered four different cards from Komplett, Elara & Dabs and also checked Peats and PC World. It seems all the 4850 cards that first came out based on the reference design have now been updated with double slot fans.

Can anyone advise where I could get a card that will only take up one PCI Express slot om my mobo?

Thanks Terrorfirmer but I have ordered that card already and the card that I received is a dual fan version. As I was saying in my original post it seems that the manufacturers are now only shipping the dual fan versions and that they may have stopped supplying single fan versions.

Ah OK, now I see what you meant. To be honest not much anyone here can do, as we've no way of knowing what retailers stock old vs revised stock - your best bet is to contact the retailers directly with the query. You could ask this guy here, he works in Peats and might be able to check it out for you in their store. :)

I've checked online and found the following with our suppliers:

    http://www.club3d.nl/index.php/products/graphics/item/375
    CGAX-4852DDC - €159 : I can't see whether this is single slot or not :(

    http://www.club3d.nl/index.php/products/graphics/item/353
    CGAX-4852IDP - €169 : Again I can't see whether single or dual slot

    http://www.gigabyte.com.tw/Products/VGA/Products_Overview.aspx?ProductID=2899
    GV-R485OC-1GH - €179

Unfortunately any card that definetly has a single slot doesn't have a single slot fan, they are all large.

    Thanks Kintaro,

I believe the two Club3D cards have dual slot fans. When the HD 4850 was first released ATI had a reference cooling design which was based on a single slot fan as follows:

    http://www.sapphiretech.com/nw/products/products_overview.php?gpid=244&grp=3

Most cards that came out initially used this reference design however the card still ran pretty hot. Since then most manufacturers have used bigger cooling solutions i.e. dual slot fans and cards. I am trying to get my hands on one of those earlier cards as I am using it in a HTPC and I need to keep my other PCI slots.

I'll keep looking around though. Thanks for your help.

Thanks Effluo and Sqaull20. I have actually ordered the card that Sqaull20 refers to last Thursday from Pixmania.ie. I received confirmation from Sapphire that they still make this with the single slot fan (although they did also say that the 1GB version is no longer supplied with a single slot fan). I should receive it in the next day or so and fingers crossed it will have that elusive single slot fan.

I'll update the thread with what I receive.

Just an update to say that I received my 4850 card today from Pixmania and it is indeed a single slot card with a single slot fan. The card I purchased is as follows:

    Thanks for the help.
