    Hello Petrol & Diesel Heads.....

Im half thinking about sellin cars on the side to make a few bob, not anything big-time mind, just one or two cars a month.

I could buy from the north, get them delivered do the vrt & nct and then sell them on for a tidy profit.

So...have any of you done it? is it worth it in this current economic climate or is the market saturated with second-hand motors?

And if i was to do it, what make & type of car sells best down south??

    Thx in advance CJ.

I think you've missed the boat on that one, whole place were at it in the last few years. And Revenue can catch up with you as well as you need to supply a PPS number when you go to VRT a car these days..

you'll need a PPS number if you're VRT-ing cars, Revenue will cop onto what you're doing quickly enough. trading without tax, garage insurance or knowledge is a dangerous game.

The government are disastrous at wasting money.
But they are ingenious at raising money and you have to give your PPS when you VRT the cars. Revenue Commissioners are no fools!

You PPS is unique and they'll easily see what you're doing.
It's a good idea, fair play for the entrepreneurial spirit but you should have tried this before now, that ship has sailed

so what kind of fine would they slap on me:confused:

what if i sold them without the vrt, and let the buyers look after that themselves would there still be a market??

so then what value are you adding, surely they would get them from the UK themselves. Seriously, find another venture, established dealers are closing everyday.

Think you need to update your location OP....planet earth?

Just as a matter of interest do they look for your PPS number also when you VRT (50Euro) a classic car eg over 30 years old

For 4k to 5k, anyone would make the time.
Hey, even if you didn't drive up the dealer would probably collect you from the bus or train station, airport, etc with a guaranteed sale on the line.

so you're offering no kind of warranty, you're not insured, I presume you have no premises and want the customers to VRT the cars themselves.

Can't see people queueing up TBH

Yes us Waterford people want to pay a premium to a unknown, unregistered dealer without any warranty on a UK car of dubious history. I know I cant be bothered to get the ferry to the UK or the 3 hour trip to the north. But instead of going to a local dealer with a show room and a warranty, I will get a car from some guy in the buy and sell, give hinm profit and take all the risk myself.

I cant afford the time to do it for myself, I have to go sign on.

There is no easy money anymore. The cute whore stuff is a thing of the past.

Note to self - stop feeding the troll.
