    Hi All,

first time poster in here, didn't even know there was a dental forum :o

I was at the dentist the other day for the first time as a worker (working for 12 years unbroken), paid €100 for work carried out (a filling) and €30 for a x-ray. I've to go back to get another filling in a few weeks. Once that's done I've to be referred to have a bottom wisdom tooth removed and possibly the top 1 as well. What can I claim back and are these costs ok? I've Quinn Heathcare as well, can I claim anything on that? What can I expect all this work to cost?

Ring Quinn and ask them. It depends on what sort of policy you have.

Your costs sound normal, you are not being ripped off (or not any more than the rest of us are).

There are some things you can claim back on your tax. Your dentist will know what they and will have to fill out a MED2 form. You get back 20% on qualifying treatment, but I don't think fillings are allowed. I think it's stuff like root canal work, crowns and dental implants.

Thanks Eileen, Quinn said I can claim a max of €25 on some of the treatment, but not on fillings and stuff, looks like I'll just have to pay for it myself :(
