Has anyone used these? I have a 36k round trip and was wondering if they are any good for building/repairing muscle or providing energy.

    Cheers

They will not provide any energy. they are great for helping muscles repair though. a shake will stop your muscles hurting as much the day after

Chocolate milk ! With a banana blended in for extra taste. (for recovery)

also, you want to eat as soon after finishing as you can. i think it's like 2:1 carbohydrates:protein. so try eat twice as much carbs as you do protein within the first fifteen minutes of finishing your exercise to get the best recovery.

Well they are not specifically energy bars, but they are just another food, just a simple dairy product, and all food will give you energy.

People have weird ideas about them, you hear the likes of Joe Duffy and Tony Ward going on like they are steroids, it is just a dairy product.

Most post-workout (PWO) protein drinks do have 2 parts simple carbs to 1 part protein. RAM is a popular brand, I think they are very overpriced as you can buy glucose in tesco for €1 per 500g and make your own.

There is lots of discussion on protein in the fitness forum, there is a sticky link on all supplements http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2055324792
