everyone should go listen to this classic again.. and really listen.

it has everything we natter on about - restraint, warmth, dynamic range and yet at the trumpet break it rocks.

some days i really wish music was still made like this so i could record it.

anyone else got any audio velvet recommendations they'd like to share?

Some lads and lasses have a direct line to the magic. Burt most certainly is one of those.

As it happens, I got her Greatest Hits on vinyl for 60 cents in a charity shop in Phibsboro a couple of days ago.

I love her voice. I'm also a fan of Burt Bacharach stuff.

The best live version of this song I ever heard was sung by an Irish band, Swim. Does anyone remember them? As far as I recall, they got one of the best ever record deals of any Irish band. Virgin gave them a 5 album deal.

Recorded by our own Tweeky as I recall.

one to add Frankie vailli "the night". possibly THE greatest uptempo soul track ever. the bass playing just blows me away.
