Hi folks as the title says this is just me wondering something for a long time now and who better to ask then the brains here?

This is just for my own knowledge, if i was to say write up a contract between myself and another person and we both signed said contract with another person as a witness or a video camera to document the signing does it class as a contract in a legal sense?

I should say in this scenario no legal parties (solicitor, garda, etc) are involved

Hope this is ok to ask as it is not a real world situation just something i always wondered

some contracts have different requirements but the general rule is it just needs 2 people to sign - no witness, no video cam, no lawyer......

it doesnt even need to be written, can merely be an oral agreement - like when you buy a bar of chocolate in the shop.

of course, if its for anything significant, in writing is the best plan.

I would imagine that the fact that you have the other persons signature and an impartial third party as witness would be enough if you didnt want to go legal. I think so anyway...
