500GB USD Drive working in Windows, not Mac

Right I have a 500gb HD that's been working fine in both Windows and Mac for a year or so now. Now however, the Mac doesn't recognise the drive at all but Windows picks it up fine.

I've restarted the Mac with the Drive plugged in, with the drive plugged out and I've done the same with Windows.

It's not just my Mac either, it's my brother's too.

Is anyone familiar with this problem or have some advice? Google hasn't yielded any results so far. Thanks! :D

Sorry, I should have said. Fat32.

But I've just left it plugged into the Mac for about 3 hours now and it has suddenly decided to recognise it. It's weird. I don't understand why/how it toke so long. I'm transferring stuff now though so I'll eject it and reconnect it when it's done just to see how long it takes then.

    Bah.

Just a note to this, on my mac I found an external WD passport 250gb not working but working in vista. I discovered the problem was that the drive was 99% full, I deleted one movie (700megs) and the drive then worked perfectly on mac. By any chance is the drive nearly full? if so try delete a bit of unwanted data and try again.
