Can you open the back windows in the 3 Door Golf MkIV that is ??

Forgot the check when looking at a car there last week and this would be a diaster as I attach a strapped roof rack for surf boards. and straps go trough the front and rear windows

    Thanks guys.

I'm afraid not but you could always get a roof rack for a good price on ebay or something

Thanks. Do those roof racks have to stay on all the time or can you take them on and off as you go?

You can take them on and off as you. They just clip into the roof channels. Oh and good luck with the car if you do buy. Have a mkIV gti myself. VW all the way

Question lads. how do I know if my engine in my golf is 1.6 8v or 1.6 16v?? Would it say on the manual? Think it says fsi somehwere on the manual front but that might be a universal one for the 8v aswell??

Bought my golf a few months back and never checked. Its a mid 2002.
Would be nice to know if I decide to sell it on soon.

Pretty sure it's 16v but just type your chassis number in here:

Take a look at your tax book, it'll be in that. It's also on the back page at the very top in bold black.

Hey man. that link only tells me its a Golf and where it was made. So nothing about the engine.

I have found out its the 1.6 16V because it is 1598CC and the 1.6 8v is 1595 cc.

But how do I find out if it is the FSI or just the regular 16v. do I have any other options.

Thanks for the help guys. Great Forum for info!!
