Can anyone answer the above? I downloaded an update because I seem to recall reading that it will speed up o2's webtext service.

Is this the case and is there any risk associated with it?

Um, it's software/programming language that an awful lot of programs (and web pages) use. There's no "risk" associated with it per se...

It's grand, in fact if you have a phone made less than 4years ago or degital tv you already use java.

Java is owned by sun microsystems www.sun.com and is currently the only reason why sun are still in business - sorry sun :)

While it's fine to download Java itself, many "applets" run in Java, and will ask you to trust them before running them. Don't click "trust" if you don't trust them - it is equivalent to clicking an .exe in an email from someone you don't know - anything could happen.
